Changing the conversation about work and cancer

WWC announces new research project

We are delighted to announce a new project in which we are hoping our supporters and coachees will be willing to participate. It’s in a very good cause!

The long-term goal is that the research will provide insights that will enable individuals and employers to facilitate the transition back to work following cancer.

The research is about the psychological engagement of individuals returning to work after cancer treatment and is being undertaken by Andrew Parsons, PhD, a postgraduate student at the University of Hertfordshire. He is a professional colleague,  working as a volunteer coach at the Fountain Centre in Surrey (The Fountain Centre is a charity for cancer patients, their families and carers located in the St Luke’s cancer unit at the Royal Surrey County Hospital, Guildford) and has significant experience working with cancer patients and their families.

The aim of the study is to explore the experiences of individuals returning to work after an absence, following cancer.  The study will gather information from questionnaires and semi-structured interviews regarding the experience of planning to return and / or returning to work after completion of treatment. The study is in two parts:
